Grant Thornton advises Mesa Labs on its strategic acquisition of GKE Complementary Sterilization Indicators and Healthcare Channels
Duesseldorf, November 2, 2023
Mesa Laboratories, Inc. (“Mesa Labs”) has acquired GKE-GmbH’s sterilization indicators business and its accredited, independent testing lab SAL GmbH. Additionally, Mesa Labs has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase GKE’s Chinese sales entity, Beijing GKE Science & Technology Co. LTD. The acquisition will complement Mesa Labs’ SDC (Sterilization Disinfection Control) division and creates one of the world’s largest sterilization and cleaning process indictor companies.
An expert team of Grant Thornton Germany headed by Tobias Kluth and Sven Kirse advised Mesa Labs on the acquisition. The services included financial analyses, in particular the analysis of the quality of earnings generated by the companies.
Mesa Labs is a global leader in the design and manufacturing of life science tools and critical quality control solutions for regulated applications in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, and medical device industries. Mesa Labs offers products and services to help customers ensure product integrity, increase patient and worker safety, and improve the quality of life throughout the world.
GKE-GmbH is headquartered in Waldems, Germany, and is engaged in the business of developing concepts for monitoring, cleaning, and sterilization processes as well as the development, manufacture, validation, and distribution of biological, chemical, and cleaning process indicators. The Waldems facility will serve as Mesa Labs’ center of excellence for the chemical indicator and healthcare business.
