Düsseldorf, 2 October 2023
On 1 October 2023 Prof. Dr Heike Wieland-Blöse became the new Spokeswoman of the Board of Directors of the audit and advisory firm Grant Thornton in Germany. She follows on from Michael Häger (63), who is relinquishing the post after four years and who is leaving the firm for well-deserved retirement. As CEO she will manage the firm and represent Germany as a member of the Board of Governors, the management committee of Grant Thornton International. She is accompanied on the Board by Dr Jan Merzrath and Marc A. Sahner. The trio will be jointly responsible for the strategically crucial areas of People & Culture, Clients & Markets, Sustainability, Quality and Technology. At the same time they will manage business with the service line managements of Audit & Assurance, Tax, Advisory and Legal.
In Germany, Grant Thornton can look back on continual growth. This is founded on high-quality services, which have been the firm’s hallmark for many years, and by expansion and the addition of specialists.
Heike Wieland-Blöse says, ‘Based on our diverse range of competences in auditing and advisory issues, we want to continue our course of growth and be the first port of call for high-level, internationally active mid-market companies and large, public groups of companies. Our team is distinguished by its profound understanding of business models and regulatory issues as well as close contact with our clients in all markets. We would like to extend our gratitude to our departing colleagues on the Board in particular – together we set the course for our dynamic growth’.
Prof. Dr Heike Wieland-Blöse has worked at Grant Thornton for 28 years and has been a member of the Board since 2009, focusing on transformation processes and on People and Culture. She advises clients focusing on corporate transactions and valuations and is the author of many expert reports publicly associated with Grant Thornton. Dr Jan Merzrath has been at the firm since 2019 and a member of the Board since 2021. Marc A. Sahner has also been at Grant Thornton for more than 22 years. He was previously the spokesman of the Audit & Assurance management, and is joining the Board for the first time.
